What each one does
Keratin smoothing coats the hair to cut frizz and soften waves. Hair keeps some movement and the effect fades gradually over a few months.
Rebonding permanently restructures the hair to make it poker-straight. It lasts until the hair grows out, so regrowth needs touching up.
Which suits humid weather
Both help with frizz in the heat. Keratin is gentler and better if you like some body. Rebonding suits very curly hair if you want it fully straight with no daily styling.
Questions to ask before booking
Ask which product brand is used and whether it contains formaldehyde-releasing ingredients. Tell the stylist about henna, colour or previous treatments.
Ask about aftercare: how long before washing or tying your hair, and which shampoo to use.
