As soon as the date and nakath are fixed
Shortlist two or three dressers whose real bridal work you love. Look for photos of brides with a similar skin tone and the style you want, whether that's Kandyan osariya, a saree drape or a western gown.
Ask each dresser what their package includes: jewellery, flowers, hair extensions, the bridal party, the going-away look and travel to your venue.
Book a trial
The trial is where you agree the look and the dresser learns your face, hair and skin. Bring photos of the saree or osariya and the jewellery you're planning.
Time the trial. That number is what your wedding-morning schedule is built on.
Build the wedding-morning timeline
Work backwards from the nakath. Add a buffer of at least half an hour for photos and getting to the poruwa, then subtract the dressing time from your trial.
Bridesmaids and family usually start before the bride, or alongside her if the dresser brings extra hands. SaloonApp's bridal planner does this maths for you and books everyone on one plan.
The week before
Skip new skincare, threading or facials in the last few days. Anything new can cause redness.
Confirm the start time, the venue address and parking with your dresser, and who is bringing the jewellery.
Homecoming
Treat it as its own event with its own nakath and timeline. Many brides choose a lighter, more modern look, so book a short consultation if it differs from the wedding look.
